Project for recommission; only three former
keepers; a straightforward project for the
winter; offered with no reserve
Launched in the mid-1930s and still in production today,
the Morgan 4/4 remains one of the longest-running models in motoring history.
Its blend of traditional coach built charm, light weight and lively performance
has ensured a loyal following for decades, with the later Ford-engined cars offering a pleasing mix
of classic looks and more modern usability.
This 1986 example shows 90,162 miles and is
recorded as having only three former keepers on the current V5C. Powered by the
familiar 1,597cc Ford CVH engine producing around 95bhp, it drives through a
manual gearbox. The car is currently a non-runner, the air filter having been
removed (but included), and one headlamp also removed as visible in the
photographs.
Finished in Ivory with a black interior, black
soft top and black tonneau cover, it presents as a straightforward project for
recommissioning. It is not presently on the road, with its road tax having
expired in December 2024.
The paperwork includes the V5C, 15 old MOT
certificates, and a selection of invoices for numerous repairs over the years,
providing a useful glimpse into the car’s maintenance
history.
Having
originally been a family vehicle, enjoyed driving with or without dog or
children, taking kids to their prom, driving the lanes in Devon on holiday and
members of the Morgan Sports Car Club.
The subsequent owner nearly always had his
Panama hat, and the dog beside him when they went to the
pub!
A
sensibly-owned 4/4 offering an appealing
basis for restoration or return to the road, and a chance to revive one of
Malvern’s most enduring
designs.
A
straightforward no reserve project for the
winter.
