Two owners
from new; odometer only shows 43,224 miles; stainless-steel exhaust; tonneau
cover
First registered in 1972, this Triumph
Spitfire has had only two owners from new. The odometer shows 43,224 miles, which the vendor states are genuine. The 1,296cc Spitfire now
qualifies as an historic, MOT-exempt vehicle.
The
vendor lists maintenance carried out over the years, including a new soft-top,
bumpers, door handles, and tonneau
cover in 1981; a new clutch in 1988; new track-rod
ends and a wheel bearing in 1992. In 1994, it received refurbishment by a
specialist restorer. Pirelli tyres were fitted in 2007, followed by new front
brake hoses, brake pipes, torsion bars, and brackets in 2008. More recent work
includes replacement headlights in 2018, new carburettors and ignition coil in
2020, and a new battery and starter motor in 2023, and a new stainless-steel
exhaust recently.
The vehicle is described as
running well, reliable, and free of issues, with an excellent soft-top. It has
always been kept in a garage. Included with the car are the V5C, various MOT
certificates, a detailed record of work carried out, the Passport to Service
booklet, the owner’s handbook, assorted invoices, and three spare
keys.
The little spitfire has been starting,
driving and running while on site for video and photos.
