This very rare collectible Citroen cabriolet is unique; with great history in its past and probably only a handful still left in existence
According to the original advertisement from a Classic Car Garage in New Zealand where the car was purchased, this Cabriolet was recreated about 43 years ago by a Citroen engineer who used a one owner 1953 Slough built Traction Avant Light 15 donor car along with the remnants of a 1939 Slough Traction Avant. This car has the engine, gearbox & running gear of the 1953 L15 and now appears to be almost identical to a 1939 Cabriolet.
The car has now covered 66,365 miles and was first registered in New Zealand as a 1939 L15 Roadster. The car was imported in 2016 and was first registered in the UK in July 2017, although the V5C declares manufacture as 1953.
This L15 has had the engine & gearbox overhauled including a new clutch around 2,000 miles ago and has just undergone a light restoration bringing the car up to the condition it is today.
Running and driving with no mechanical issues that we have found while driving the car for photographs and a video, it seats four including the rear dickey seat and it seems to love the road, winning various competitions in the past. The car features a fully hinged lying flat windscreen option, factory cabin heater fitted, leather seats (with the originals also included), Michelin tyres and the soft top seems in impressive order.
Included in the sale is the tool kit, workshop manuals along with servicing and maintenance record.
Giving the appearance of a very rare 1930s French Cabriolet, this looks like very good value at the estimate suggested.
