Lot Ended
Description
Smart MGC GT with straight bodywork, tidy interior, Webasto roof and
considerable history file
Dating from November
1968 this striking red MGC GT looks very sharp and sadly comes to us from a
deceased estate (along with Lot 149) and was purchased by our vendors late
husband in October 2015 with a view to bringing the car in the coming year to
the same standard as Lot 149.
The car presents
very well with minimal marks to the paintwork and started as it should, running
well with good oil pressure. Under the bonnet, we find the 2912cc C-series six
cylinder engine as fitted to the Healey (the MGC was intended to replace the
Healey 3000) and developed 145bhp with twin SU’s offering brisker performance
than its 1.8 litre sibling with sixty arriving in just 10 seconds – quick for
the era.
Inside, we find black vinyl interior
and the standard black crackle finish dash and traditional three spoke steering
wheel. We also note a Webasto sunroof is fitted.
The history file includes a box file of bills, 15 old MOTs, the V5C
recording six former keepers to the current (the wife of the late owner) and
photographs of the car being restored in the 90s.
More
Invoices on file show spend in 2020 on ignition items and exhaust items such as
manifold gaskets, and high flow manifolds and a clutch kit in 2018. Other invoices date back to the early
90s with technical diagrams and brochures present too.
Ready to be enjoyed this looks like a smart and most usable example
that’s had some useful works and upgrades (just take a peek at the carbs and
K&N filters under the bonnet).
