Description
Absolutely spiffing Supercharged TC on offer from a deceased estate;
very nearly complete with a new hood ready to be fitted with side screens; 90%
complete with considerable potential; exquisite
Dating from December 1949 this TC comes to us from a deceased
estate and has been with our vendor since 2012 (then passing to his wife in
2022) and is finished in a fantastic hue of Powder Blue.
During their ownership, the car was completely restored, the
standard looks to be exceptional but was not quite finished when our man passed
away, with we believe, just the roof and side screens to complete, the frames of
which are included.
As part of the restoration
process, some aspects of the car look to have been improved including fitment of
seat belts and also, as you may have noticed, installation of the Supercharger
under the bonnet.
The level of detail and
finish on the whole car is exquisite as can be seen in the images and in person
should you wish to view. We have
not started the engine although it turns with gusto once the battery is
connected. Unfortunately, the widow is not quite sure what stage her husband got
to with the car so we would recommend a thorough check over before running and
driving in case anything that should be connected, well,
isn’t.
The history file includes the V5C
recording four former keepers and an array of bills for parts purchased
including some technical details. A
note in the file looks to refer to the engine spec built we believe by Ron Ward
“XPAG Engine – MG Motive Block, sleeved and bored to + .040” pistons to suit,
allen cap-head pinch bolts, late crank (no.168557 from TC’s forever) at .010”
mains, .040” journals, new shells, lightened 120-tooth flywheel, 7 ¼ “ clutch
all balanced, lip seals front and rear using Speedi sleeve, special billet steel
camshaft for use with supercharger, fitted vernier timing sprocket set at 111
degrees , bronze guides, unleaded large valve head etc etc” and all sounds very
impressive and no doubt costly.
In addition, we
also find bills for five new wheels costing £1800, a new Ash frame kit with body
irons and dashboard for £1,755 in 2013 and a complete gearbox rebuild in 2014
costing £765. We also find a bill
for the Supercharger which cost £3,200.
A
fantastic example that looks to be 90% of the way completed that will no doubt
go much better than the original and be in tip top condition when finished. On offer for a fraction of the cost
invested - this is a serious opportunity.
