1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1300
Fully restored by
VW main agent Listers of Worcester in 1998 and only 11,000 fine weather miles
since; current owner 15 years; always garaged and well-maintained; super
condition throughout
Supplied new
by Arthur Moore & Sons of Great Witley, Worcestershire, in September 1973,
this delightful Bahama Blue VW Beetle has had just five owners from new, our
vendor acquiring it in 2007.
In 1998, when it
had covered 79,600 miles, it was sent to VW main agents, Listers of Worcester,
for a full restoration which resulted in the fine specimen you see today.
Although there are only a few bills for some of the new parts used, there is a
letter from Listers, dated January 1999, which confirms the
following:
“The vehicle has been stripped down,
completely rebuilt and resprayed, with new wings, running boards and bumpers
front and rear. The engine has been reconditioned, the interior seating has been
recovered, new [Empi 15”] alloy wheels with locking wheel nuts and new tyres
have been fitted. A new [Kenwood] CD system with a removable front has been
installed. The work has been carried out to a very high standard and the vehicle
is in excellent condition.”
Today, 23 years and
11,000 miles since the restoration was completed, the car still looks absolutely
wonderful, as you can see in the photos. It also has some choice accessories
including: front spotlights; reversing light; rear mud flaps; woodrim steering
wheel (original included); alloy gear knob and window winders; bamboo parcel
shelf; chrome wire oddments tray; fire extinguisher; inertia-reel seatbelts;
quality carpets inside and in the front boot.
During the current 15-year ownership it has always been kept
garaged and used in fine weather only. Converted to run on E10 petrol, it has
been regularly serviced with various new parts fitted, as detailed in invoices
on file. It was last serviced less than 400 miles ago.
Although it is now MOT exempt (and free to tax), it has always been
MOT tested every year, the current MOT running until June 2023 with just a
couple of minor advisories. A workshop manual and sundry useful spares are also
present, including the materials required to fix the MOT
advisories.
Retaining its original handbooks and service book, in the original
VW wallet, this is one of the nicest Beetles we have seen and is well worth a
look at the guide price suggested.
