1986 Toyota MR2 MKIa
Desirable slick-top
pre-facelift example with JanSpeed backbox; scope to use and improve; recent
clean MOT and just 114 miles covered in the last 8 years
Dating from May 1986 this late model MR2 MkI-a, is we gather among
the last of the pre-facelift versions and is finished in red and sits upon a set
of later MkIb 14” eight-hole alloy wheels and shows 95,624
miles.
Under the engine cover, sitting
amidships is the naturally aspirated 1.6 litre 4A-GE inline-four cylinder DOHC
engine with Denso electronic port fuel injection and T-VIS variable intake
geometry which enables the engine to produce 128bhp driving the rear wheels via
five-speed manual transmission.
Inside, we find
two-tone red and charcoal cloth interior with black door cards, dash and
carpets. In addition, we see electric windows, electric mirrors, digital clock,
retro-fit radio/CD player, retro-fit steering wheel and metal gear knob. We also
note fitment of a cheeky Janspeed back box which gives the car a more sporty
rumble.
The history file includes only the V5C
recording six former keepers to the vendor and current MOT, valid until March
2023 recording no advisories – impressive given the car looks to have been off
the road, in storage since its last MOT in April 2014 at 95,510 miles suggesting
only 114 miles have been covered in the past 8 years.
The car offers the buyer the chance to get a pre-facelift example
that was driven to the sale. It looks and sounds fruity, although the paint is
unlikely to win any prizes yet makes an ideal basis for a ‘use and improve’
example.
Buyers please note.  the vendor has a set of original
MkIa alloy wheels available by seperate negotiation should the winning bidder
wish to buy them.
