1929 Austin Seven Chummy

Well prepared car with good spares; Phoenix crank; ideal VSCC events; from a deceased estate; original engine included in sale

Everyone loves an Austin Chummy, a recent article in the Daily Mail covering the Seven's 100th Anniversary concluding that the Austin 7 was the most joyous car the writer had ever driven...we can but agree....

This one is particularly good, with an excellent history and considerable expenditure over the years. It comes to us from a deceased estate, its owner having built up a fresh engine with a splash-fed Phoenix crank and rods and an SU carburettor about 10 years ago. The car is reputed to go like a rocket. The original engine to the car is included in the sale, for collection by the purchaser from the Shrewsbury area within two weeks of the sale.

One can see from the preparation within it, that the owner was a fastidious type, a list of all of the spares and tools which are secreted within the car showing their type and location being on file. It is a very comprehensive set and the car is fully equipped to travel to the moon...

Dating from 1929, it encompasses the best of all Austin worlds, retaining the nickel radiator and dainty wings, but offering more space inside the diminutive bodywork.There are a full set of sidescreens and it comes with a good usable hood.

It spent some time living in France before acquisition, and prior to that was well known within VSCC circles.

It hasn't run for a few months but there is no reason to believe it won't fire up, the only thing we noticed was a 'creaky' front wheel as we pushed it around onsite which will need some attention before setting sail once more in what was referred to in period as 'the dinghy of the road'....
