1990 Audi Coupe E
No
Reserve
Rare to find 5-cylinder coupe from long term
ownership showing 119,950 miles with 19 service stamps and 26 old
MOTs
Supplied new by Quicks of Oldbury, VW Audi
main agents in April 1990, this rather cool B3 generation of Audi Coupe (known
internally as the Typ 8B) follows on from the legendary B2 Coupe that spawned
the famous Ur-Quattro.
Finished in Silver, the
car sits on a set of after-market AZEV 16” alloy wheels and looks, also like it
has after-market lowered suspension, which gives the car added presence (we
think). Under the bonnet, we find
the proven 2.3 litre NG inline five-cylinder petrol engine (known as the 2.3E)
and develops, as the 10-valve variant (we believe) 134bhp (100Kw as stated on
the data tag) driving the front wheels via five-speed manual
transmission.
Inside, we find plush and
comfortable blue velour seating with matching blue carpets and console with wood
trim. We also find electric windows, trio of gauges in the centre console,
period correct Blaupunkt Montreal radio/cassette player, heated rear window,
seat back map nets, rear arm rest, sunroof and front fog
lights.
The car shows 119,969 miles which have
been covered by its three owners from new, having been in the current ownership
since November 1993. The car presents well, although we did note a few areas of
cosmetic degradation following some below par repairs on the rear quarter below
the OS tail-light and bumper corner (as pictured), some bubbling to the door
bottoms and some other marks/scratches (as pictured) commensurate with the car’s
age and mileage. The interior looks
to have worn well with only the driver’s side rear seat access handle inoperable
at the time of consignment.
The history file
includes the V5C recording two previous owners (Experian states 1 previous), the
owner’s pack and service book revealing 19 service stamps (11 by Audi main
dealers), the last in March 2008 at 88,164 miles by MJ Tech of Warwickshire. In
addition, we also find a few sundry bills for tyres along with an impressive 26
old MOTs plus the current valid until July 2022 with no advisories.
A note
from the vendor on file mentions he always had the oil and filter changed every
two years, had five new plugs fitted along with a new temperature sensor, fuel
filter and dizzy cap in November 2021 at the last service. The note also mentions a couple of minor
gremlins including and unreliable passenger window switch, and the engine can
sometimes over-rev.
A visually appealing Coupe
from long term ownership and not a car we see very often which is a shame, for
these were well built cars from an era of substance on offer at No Reserve so
the highest bid takes it away.
