1974 MGB Roadster
Older restoration which
still looks great today; various useful upgrades; overdrive; new clutch kit;
ready to enjoy
Dating from June 1974, this smart MGB Roadster shows only
52,700 miles on the clock which could well be correct and is partially backed up
by 16 old MOTs back to 1992 when the mileage was 35,087. We are told that it was
treated to a bare-metal restoration some years ago and it certainly looks good
today.
A good file of invoices back to 2004 show regular upkeep
and various upgrades are in evidence including a brake servo; oil cooler;
alternator charging; 12v battery conversion; stainless steel exhaust; chrome
wire wheels; wooden dashboard and centre console; leather seat covers and new
seat foams; Sony Bluetooth audio system; Mota-Lita steering wheel; inertia reel
seatbelts and a stainless steel luggage rack.
A new mohair hood was fitted in 2007 which has just had
the clear plastic windows replaced. A full tonneau cover and a hood cover are
also present. The carpets are new and it had a new clutch kit only 200 miles ago
in May this year followed by a good tune-up and greasing of the king pins and
front suspension components which have also recently had new poly bushes fitted.
An original owner’s handbook and a guide to the Sony sound system are also
included along with a spare set of keys.
Fitted with overdrive on 3rd and 4th
which works as it should, the car has an MOT until June 2022 with no advisories
recorded and was driven 100 miles to the sale. It has been starting promptly and
running well as we have moved it around on site, with good 40psi oil pressure,
although we did note a slight tapping noise from the engine which the vendor
believes to be a sticky valve or tappet.
Overall a very nice looking MGB with some choice upgrades
which no doubt has another 50+ years of enjoyable motoring ahead of
it.
